England consider Chris Silverwood as coach hunt nears conclusion

Chris Silverwood appears to have returned to the debate over the role of manager of England, as the ECB continues to review options to replace Trevor Bayliss.

Silverwood has always been a strong candidate. As the team's current bowling coach, he has developed a great relationship with the current players and has a good history as a head coach who led Essex to the championship title in 2017. The start of this hiring process is the next choice for the role.

However, along with Alec Stewart, the preferred candidate in recent roles, the ECB withdrew in the process.

Gary Kirsten, who was a huge success as a senior coach in India and South Africa, was considered his favorite, but it is understood that he made an overwhelming presentation in an interview Wednesday. There may be some reservations about Kirsten's initial ambiguity. He informed the original ECB that he was only interested if the roles were separated by red and white ball coaches. And his passion was restored only after being released from coaching. Location in the IPL.

The decision ultimately rests with Ashley Gilles, British male cricket manager. He previously preferred to nominate English candidates and mentioned the importance of understanding the team culture and strengthening the unique pride and unity that represent aspects.

Former England player and an important figure in recent team culture improvements, Silverwood is emerging as a stronger candidate than ever. Kirsten, who took India to the World Cup and South Africa to the top in the test rankings, remains a convincing candidate, but Giles has made a difficult decision over the next few years. An appointment is expected within about a week.

It is understood that Stewart notified the ECB last weekend that it could not be interested in a position that it determined that an appointment for travel was incompatible with family responsibilities. He remains Frost's cricket coach.
