The Sri Lankan national cricket squad arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday expressing confidence in the host's promises of security for the next matches between the two countries.
Ten senior players citing security concerns have chosen to leave the tour, which includes three international one-day matches and three Twenty20 matches, starting Friday.
But the rest arrived in Karachi on Tuesday night and were transferred to their hotel under great security.
Twenty20 squad captain Dasun Shanaka said he had no doubts about returning to Pakistan after they played a Twenty20 international in Lahore in October 2017, the first since the team attack in 2009.
"I've been there before," Shanaka told reporters just before the team left Colombo, where they were blessed by Buddhist monks dressed in saffron.
“I am satisfied with the organized security for us and I am happy to take my team to Pakistan. We look forward to giving our very strong hosts a good fight. "
The ODI employer, Lahiru Thirimanne, said he also had no concerns and had been assured of a high degree of protection in Pakistan, generally reserved for visits by heads of state.
The Sri Lanka cricket board received authorization from the defense ministry last week to continue the tour after establishing that there was no threat.
Tour Schedule:
- One-day internationals (all in Karachi): September 27 and 29, October 2.
- Twenty20 international (all in Lahore): October 5, 7 and 9
