KARACHI: All government departments and law enforcement agencies in Sindh have aimed to ensure coordinated efforts for the successful celebration of three one-day international matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled for September 27, 29 and 2.
These instructions were issued by Sindh's chief secretary, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, on Monday while chairing a meeting to review the arrangements, including the provision of infallible security during the Pak-Lanka series to be played at the Karachi National Stadium.
Highlighting the importance of the series, the chief secretary said that negligence of duty would not be tolerated. He advised the Sindh police to maintain a well-organized security system such as that used for PSL parties in the recent past, when the series was conducted without problems and without major complaints.
The meeting was attended by, among others, secretaries of the departments of sports, home, health, local government and public health engineering, in addition to the Karachi commissioner and officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board, law enforcement agencies and the army.
Shah also highlighted the need to carpet the roads leading to and from the stadium. He said the uninterrupted power supply in addition to the appropriate arrangements for water and sewage problems should be completed with priority.
Previously, the secretaries of the relevant departments, the commissioner, the police and the KWSB officers informed the meeting about the preparations and arrangements under way for this purpose.
