LAHORE – In April 2018, Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Since then, the controversial case has seen several people side with Ali or Meesha on the case.
Some, along with Meesha, argue that Pakistan should take strong action against sexual harassment through the #MeToo movement around the world. Some support Ali, but Meesha says he is misusing the #MeToo movement to undermine Ali's reputation for personal agenda.
Ali Zafar, Defamation case record statement against Meesha Shafi
After a year, as soon as new facts are revealed every day, it is unlikely that this case will be closed. In May, the media reported that nine witnesses came to refute Meesha's claim against Ali. You can see more here.
The recent development of this event comes from a woman named Sofi. On Sofi's twitter handle @ seraphina444, Sofi made a tweet asking for apologies for posting allegations of harassment for Ali Zafar's apology. The same day, a false accused tweet that Meesha blamed Ali stated that Ali Zafar went to the United States to attend APNA's fundraising event organized by Sofi.
According to Sofi, they sent the girl as a liaison to cooperate with Ali Zafar, but later the girl insisted that Ali kept coming close to her and bothering her. Sofi also accused Ali of being a habitual "learner" in the tweet.

However, after the representative of Shaukat Khanum Hospital deleted her tweets regarding her tweets, she later deleted her account as well. But on Monday, Sophie reactivated her Twitter account to apologize to Ali Zaffa. I also posted a screenshot of the tweet I deleted last year.

Along with the screenshot, she wrote that she posted the tweet because the woman in question described the harassment incident to her. However, she deleted the tweets allegedly accused within a day after new information was released about the incident.

She also added that she is a victim of harassment. As a patron of the #MeToo movement, she liked to believe in her but was wrong about her and judged Ali based on her fair judgment. She also realized her mistake and wanted to atone for her mistake.
Since Sofi mentioned Ali's Twitter account several times in her post, he was forced to find out. Around 6:20 pm Monday, he posted that she was courageous to not only retweet Sofi's tweet, which she refuted her claims, but also to apologize publicly.
Ali Zafar's tweets about this incident include:
Dear Sofi. You need courage to accept mistakes and courage to apologize in public. You have to be courageous and brave and always remember. I wish you the best health and happiness in your life. God bless you. https://t.co/YvHFumccfb

Respect her and her privacy. She is not a fake account and explained why I used this account. She is actually a real victim of bullying and was misled. All confirmed. When someone makes excuses. Give me the right to hear and be respected. https://t.co/t9As5Jykfc
