The Foreign Minister of India said on Tuesday that Azad Jammu and Kashmir belong to India and that he hoped that New Delhi would gain physical control over him one day, raising the rhetoric over the territorial dispute.
In response, Pakistan strongly condemned and rejected "the inflammatory and irresponsible comments made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India regarding Pakistan and AJK," according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement also urged the international community to take note of the "aggressive stance."
India states that the Kashmir valley is very populated, while Pakistan has a wedge of territory in the west of the disputed region: Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our position in [Azad Kashmir] that is, it has always been and always will be very clear. [Azad Kashmir] It is part of India and we hope that one day we will have jurisdiction, physical jurisdiction over it, ”Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said at a press conference.
Last month, New Delhi repealed the special status of Kashmir occupied by India in an attempt to fully integrate the territory into India, a measure that has provoked protests and anger in Kashmir and Pakistan.
When asked about the comments of the Indian Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, a spokesman for Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, said his government's position on Kashmir had not changed.
Pakistan argues that Kashmir is a disputed territory that should be resolved by the United Nations.
Pakistan has condemned India's decision to change the state of Kashmir and said that India's repression against protests and dissent would lead to extremism for more Muslims in the world.
But Jaishankar said that revoking Kashmir's special rights is an internal affair of India.
Observations reflecting the "absolute frustration" of India
The Foreign Ministry, rejecting "inflammatory and irresponsible comments," said they point to India's "absolute frustration" over the world condemnation he received for his actions in occupied Kashmir.
"These observations are an obvious manifestation of India's absolute frustration over the continuing international censorship of its atrocious violations of human rights in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir," the Foreign Ministry said.
Draws attention to the fact that with the presence of nearly one million military "imprisoning more than 8 million cashmere in one of the largest prisons in the world, India is stubbornly committing state terrorism" in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
"India cannot divert international attention from its crimes against the innocent people of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by blaming Pakistan," the statement said.
He cast doubt on the way in which the Indian government "continues to blatantly justify the violation of the human rights of cashmere" and of the citizens of India subject to similar violations.
"India today is also a unique and deplorable case of a state that promotes hate crimes against minorities and consistently does not take into account those who are dedicated to cow vigilantism, mafia lynchings and forced conversions and are guilty of raping the laws of India themselves, "said the FO Declaration.
The Foreign Ministry said that the crimes committed by India are sufficient evidence to "discredit pretentious claims" that mocks being a "normal state and the so-called larger democracy."
"Pakistan asks the international community to take India's aggressive stance on taking" physical jurisdiction "of AJK seriously," the statement said.
"Coming from an occupying state, such irresponsible and belligerent statements have the potential to further increase tensions and seriously compromise peace and security in the region," he added.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated Pakistan's peaceful position, but said the country "would be ready to respond effectively to any act of aggression."
"Instead of resorting to Jingoist rhetoric, India must rescind its illegal actions, immediately stop serious human rights violations in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir, refrain from violating international law and fully comply with the resolutions of the Council of UN security for a final settlement of Jammu and Kashmir dispute, "concluded the FO statement.
