Over 30 years since its premiere Neon Genesis EvangelionStudio Kara announced the new Evangelion. I’m working on an animation. The franchise follows depressed teenager Shinji Ikari and his companions as they pilot the giant robot EVA to protect the world from destructive angels, but discover another conspiracy that threatens all of humanity.
As an Evangelion fan, the prospect of seeing another series in the franchise is very exciting. But the question remains. Will this new Evangelion anime live up to its predecessor with the talent behind it, and is such a series even necessary?
Evangelion already ended on a high note

Throughout Evangelion’s turbulent history, audiences have witnessed three different endings to the original animated series. The End of Evangelionand Evangelion 3.0+1.0 three times. The latter film ended with Shinji overcoming his depression and recreating the world as one without EVA, allowing him and his friends to grow up and live normal lives, giving them all the happy endings they deserve.
The film delivered a satisfying and hopeful conclusion to the long-running animation. Shinji’s decision to remake the work to fit the story’s theme of breaking the vicious cycle of trauma and moving forward in life with courage even if you feel pain or make mistakes. It’s expected that after a few years, we’ll end up with him and his audience. Honestly, it was my favorite of the three endings in the franchise, and I felt like Evangelion didn’t need to go any further.
It is unknown whether the next Evangelion series will be a sequel, prequel, or remake of the original animation. We may or may not see Shinji and his friends again in this new anime. Fortunately, Evangelion left room for the story to progress after the latest film.
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 It is revealed that Shinji and the rest of the cast are trapped in a time loop and must relive the franchise’s story as seen in the original show and movies. This concept makes it easier for us to imagine the upcoming anime starting anew, continuing where Evangelion’s story left off.
A new animation creator offers a fresh and faithful sequel.

Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno won’t be at the helm of this new anime, but it will still feature some returning talent working behind the scenes. Evangelion Rebuild director Kazuya Tsurumaki will co-lead the project. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Assistant director Toko Yatabe. Tsurumaki has worked closely with him since his Anno days. Neon Genesis EvangelionSo someone with this much experience with the franchise should ensure that the new animation is faithful to the source material.
What’s really notable is that the upcoming Evangelion series will be written by Yoko Taro, who created the hit sci-fi video game series NieR. Similar to Evangelion, the NieR franchise depicted robots fighting in a post-apocalyptic world while telling devastating stories about characters struggling with loneliness and finding purpose in life. Yoko even went to the phone. Nier: AutomataThis is a story adapted from Evangelion. Considering Yoko’s success as a subversive storyteller and his reverence for Evangelion, seeing him write a new chapter in the Evangelion story would be exciting to say the least.
The new animation will also be produced by Hideaki Anno’s animation company Studio Khara, which produced the four Evangelion films. It will also be produced by CloverWorks, the animation studio behind popular shows such as: Darling in the Franxx, The Promised Neverland, Villains don’t dream of being bunny girls.and Dress up my clothes darling.
We’ve seen Khara and CloverWorks deliver some of the best animation in their respective projects. The pair’s collaboration to revive Evangelion will result in a dynamic, multi-layered, and vibrant piece of already amazing animation.
Would Evangelion still be the same without Anno?

The Evangelion anime has been the brainchild of Hideaki Anno for a long time. The acclaimed author pours his own experience with clinical depression into the psychological journeys of his characters, especially Shinji, to create a harrowing and thought-provoking animation like no other.
It seemed like Anno had finally made peace with his beloved animation with the final Rebuild of Evangelion film. Just as Shinji was freed from the shackles of sadness and violence that dominated his life, Anno, after writing several endings, finally finished his magnum opus and was able to break away from the franchise after working on it for so long.
It’s hard to imagine this franchise without Anno at the helm. It’s also unclear what the new Evangelion creators will add to the personal story that will make it stand out while honoring Anno’s work. However, Anno stated in a 2016 interview that he hoped other producers would work on Evangelion in his place.
"…I hope it is an appealing work, and although there may not be special conditions, I will not be limited to what my work has established. Like Gundam, which continues to support the animation world, Eva can become a new pillar. Ultimately, this is the purpose of restarting with the new theatrical version. I want to maintain this pillar that carries the animation world…” Anno said. ‘I do this for the well-being of the animation industry. Gundam can be enjoyed through various works, Eva It can develop in the same way. “I think it would be better if there was diversity in the work.”
Evangelion has long been a reflection of the man who created it, but it’s clear the franchise has grown far beyond Anno, and he’s happy to see the series move forward with someone else on board.
In the end, the story of Evangelion is doomed to repeat itself, but it seems to be moving in a better direction. An installment in such a prestigious franchise will undoubtedly bring huge economic benefits to the animation industry. It will also continue Anno’s legacy and allow new generations of viewers and creators to embrace the story and create their own interpretations. Whatever this anime has in store for us, it will be a bold new beginning for Evangelion that is worth watching.
