Former South African batman and batting coach Neil McKenzie joined Jozi Stars as a mentor and consultant for the remaining Mzansi Super League (MSL) season. After winning their first event last year, the defense champion Stars has lost all four matches so far.
McKenzie, an active member of the Johannesburg-based Lions, worked as a coach with the South African team during Russell Domingo's tenure. When Ottis Gibson moved to Dale Benkenstein in September 2017, he was not retained, and McKenzie recently participated in preparing for the 2019 World Cup at a Bangladesh camp.
McKenzie is one of 10 former international companies whose South African crickets have been involved in their management roles at MSL in their desperate times with their expertise and experience. This means that all MSL franchises participated in all national players. Ashwell Prince, Paul Adams and Hashim Amla (short term acceptable) are in Cape Town Blitz, Mark Boucher is Senior Coach of Tshwane Spartans, Robin Peterson is Assistant of Nelson Mandela Bay Giants of Eric Simons, and Senior Coach of Gary Kirsten Durban Heat. Paarl Rocks was not a former executive, but was supervised by former state deputy general manager Adrian Birrell who worked at Domingo and counted Justin Ontong and JP Duminy as backroom employees.
McKenzie's appointment will fear that the former great people of South Africa are particularly in decline, but it is also needed by sick stars after Graeme Smith withdraws from the competition and begins to become the first director of cricket. The batter's blow was worse with a fierce 15 at-bats defeated by Blitz last Saturday, running from 198 to 5 promising 198 to 5. Not only did their lineup rely heavily on Temba Bavuma and Reeza Hendricks, but their other Batman Chris Gayle and Rassie van der Dussen contributed little and needed their game plan.
After the successful manager of last season, Enoch Nkwe, was promoted to the role of South African interim team leader, the Stars had to find a new coach. It is a new position to take over the role of a traditional coach. Nkwe took the team to India, pulled out the T20I series, lost test 0-3, and it was not confirmed whether he would continue to play but was replaced by Stars. Donovan Miller, who helped Nkwe last season, started the acquisition but made a difficult start and hopes McKenzie can change his situation.
