Not just a win for me but for all of

Upon returning to Karachi after winning the IBSF World Snooker Championship title, second-seeded Mohammad Asif said Monday that his victory was not only his victory alone, but one for all of Pakistan.

On Saturday, Asif achieved an 8-5 victory over Jefrey Roda of the Philippines in the championship final in Antalya.

With his trophy, he was received today at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi by representatives of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) who adorned him with garlands.

Speaking to reporters on his return today, he said he was dedicating his prize to Kashmir.

"We always ask the government to support us to encourage players," said Asif, adding that he hoped the current government would support billiards.

The billiard champion thanked the federation for supporting him, adding that the PBSF had supported them in difficult times. He asked the government to also support the sport.

The last time Asif won the title was in 2012 in Bulgaria. With this victory, Asif, born in Faisalabad, has become the fifth cueist to win the billiard world title twice since its creation in 1963.
