Uber brings a gourmet experience in testing for new features

When we think of Uber Eats, we think of serving meals. However, the company is currently testing new features and may soon think of cooking classes and dining experiences.

This pilot is open to San Francisco's Uber Eats customers and encourages gourmets to take cooking classes or consider dinner at a recommended restaurant.

Called Uber Moments, this feature looks essentially similar to the Airbnb experience, but the app surface that you can book with just a few taps on your smartphone offers a stimulating experience.

When asked about the trial, Uber refused to confirm its existence and instead told Forbes:

According to the report, Moments offers a variety of products for Uber Eats customers. For example, $ 75 to show how to make Chinese dumplings, or if you prefer cooking, a five-course Nigerian dinner costs $ 55

Uber Eats San Francisco customers can tap the Moments banner at the top of the display of the Uber Eats app to see what's new. Then explore the different experiences offered, choose fun sounds and enter the number of attendees. Finally, press the "Receive Order" button and choose the appropriate date and time. Reservations will be confirmed by email within 24 hours.

The latest tests come after Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in September 2019 that he wanted to make his company a “daily operating system”.

Such an ambition may sound anxious to people, as the tech companies are moving more into people's lives, but in Uber's eyes it's a natural step to launching business beyond the ride-sharing platform that made its name.

For example, San Francisco-based Uber is already making a big investment to add other transportation to its service, including rentable electric scooters and bicycles.

We're also testing the idea of bringing all our services into one app, making it easier for customers to access the service, increasing engagement and increasing sales. Competitor Lyft is going a similar way.

The Uber Moments test runs until November 17, after which the company analyzes feedback from customers and businesses that have emerged as part of the service. As a response, too long ago, I could see the moment unfold in more cities.
