I’m really looking forward to Christmas. I build it up completely in my mind. I picture my husband loving every gift I get (actually he doesn’t like gifts because he thinks that if he wants something, he’ll buy it for me, so how can I get something he doesn’t already have?), and looking really cute in Christmas pictures (in reality, my hair is a mess and I have bags under my eyes from lack of sleep)… Holidays never go as planned.
Maybe that’s why there are so many Scrooges and Grinches saying Bah Humbug rather than Merry Christmas. But the truth is, we can enjoy the holidays if we can laugh off our foolish expectations.
