In his message on the occasion, the prime minister added that the birth of the Prophet Muhammad "purified civilization instilling characteristics such as human dignity and forgiveness."

Eid-i-Miladun Nabi is celebrated today with religious enthusiasm throughout the country. The day began with a greeting of 31 weapons in Islamabad and a greeting of 21 weapons in all the provincial capitals.

In his message, President Dr. Arif Alvi said the government is trying to develop Pakistan as a welfare state based on the principles of the state of Madina, Pakistan Radio reported.

The president urged citizens, particularly religious academics, to play their part in making Pakistan a welfare state, adding that the government is carrying out economic and social reforms in several sectors that could bring positive results "very soon" .
