
While the country celebrated Eid-i-Miladun Nabi on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) marked the end of a story of inhumanity, oppression, tyranny, ignorance, injustice and deviation from the right path, Pakistan Radio reported.
In his message on the occasion, the prime minister added that the birth of the Prophet Muhammad "purified civilization instilling characteristics such as human dignity and forgiveness."
He added that the idea of a welfare state was first introduced by Islam.
Eid-i-Miladun Nabi is celebrated today with religious enthusiasm throughout the country. The day began with a greeting of 31 weapons in Islamabad and a greeting of 21 weapons in all the provincial capitals.
After Fajr's prayers, special prayers were offered for the unity of the Muslim ummah, as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan in several mosques, Pakistan Radio reported.

When addressing the conference, Prime Minister Imran said: "If a person wants to be great, he must make the Prophet his role model. If a country wants to be great, he must follow the principles of the state of Madina."
He added that compassion is for the poor and oppressed segments of society and not for powerful and corrupt people, Pakistan Radio reported.
In his message, President Dr. Arif Alvi said the government is trying to develop Pakistan as a welfare state based on the principles of the state of Madina, Pakistan Radio reported.
The president urged citizens, particularly religious academics, to play their part in making Pakistan a welfare state, adding that the government is carrying out economic and social reforms in several sectors that could bring positive results "very soon" .
In his message, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, said it is a day of salvation from restlessness and illiteracy for humanity.
