
A 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday afternoon, sending people out of the buildings to the streets.
The epicenter of the earthquake occurred in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan, according to data published by the Pakistan Department of Meteorology (PMD).
The magnitude 5.2 quake struck at 3:44 pm and was at a depth of 180 kilometers, the PMD said.
The tremors were felt in parts of the Malakand division, including Swat, Dir and other upper districts, and in the division of Hazara, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera and other cities.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority said it is in contact with the administrations of the upper districts of KP, however, so far no loss of life or property has been reported.
Tremors occur when people remain nervous two weeks after a powerful earthquake of magnitude 5.6 shook several cities and parts of the north of the country, even in KP, leaving at least 38 people dead, more than 500 injured and thousands of houses and infrastructure damaged vial. After the earthquake, at least 67 people were injured after superficial tremors that hit the city of Mirpur, Azad Kashmir.
The earthquake occurred a day after the 14th anniversary of the devastating earthquake of October 8, 2005 that shook the northern regions of the country and killed thousands of people.
