6.3 magnitude earthquake shakes north India

NEW DELHI – On Tuesday, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake with epicenters in Pakistan hit several parts of northern India, including the Delhi-NCR region.

At 4:33 pm, there were no reports of human injury or property damage from the earthquake.

The epicenter was near the Indo-Pakistan border. The closest metropolis to the epicenter is Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan.

People have jumped over their homes and offices in panic in several places including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and many others.

Pakistani cities, which had a shake that lasted for 8-10 seconds, included Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi. Sialkot, Sargodha, Mansehra, Gujrat, Chitral, Malakand, Multan, Shangla, Bajaur, Swat, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan and Mirpur.

More than 50 people were injured in the Mirpur region of Azad Kashmir, and at least four people were reported dead while the road was injured. There are also reports of crumbling walls in this area.
