MEXT Scholarship Program Information
The MEXT Scholarship Program is a set of scholarships provided, encouraged and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology under the administration of the Japanese government, also known as Monbukagakusho. This scholarship is available to applicants in various categories. This group includes research students, teacher trainees, undergraduates, Japanese international students, technical colleges, and special trainees.
The MEXT Scholarship Program generally opens the door for prospective scholars during the second semester (April enrollment and October enrollment). In general, there are five main steps to follow to apply for the MEXT Scholarship Program. These methods include the following:
- Admission to MEXT (university recommendation of special program) scholarship
- Admission to MEXT (embassy recommendation) scholarship

Before Considering a MEXT Scholarship There are some things to keep in mind before starting your application. To apply for a MEXT scholarship, you must meet one of the criteria below.
- Candidates must be recommended by the Japanese embassy or consulate (this is also referred to as an embassy recommendation letter).
- You must get a letter of recommendation from the Japanese university you want to apply for (also known as a university recommendation letter).
- Applicants must be selected from Japanese universities if they are students with personal funds pursuing education in Japan (also called domestic selection).
About Yokohama National University scholarship 2020
Currently, Yokohama National University is offering two MEXT scholarships for its master's degree and five MEXT scholarships for its doctorate, which are registered from October 2018 to October 2020. In addition, Yokohama National University also offers four MEXT scholarships for doctoral programs, which last from October 2019 registration to October 2021. MEXT Scholarship 2020 candidates from Yokohama National University, in addition to being eligible to participate in this program, are also required to submit some necessary documents. How to apply
To apply for the MEXT Scholarship 2020 at Yokohama National University, there are some guidelines that must be followed for an efficient and effective application process. In general, the application process has three main selection stages: administrative selection by the program, online interviews with program staff, and final selection carried out by the Education, Culture, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). - Final applicants will be asked for an online interview via email or Skype. Announcement of the selection phase will be announced in mid-February.
- The last few candidates will need to complete a more detailed application and provide other necessary documents. The list of the last few candidates selected by the program will be sent to Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for final final approval.
- Finalists will be announced to all candidates selected. After the announcement, the program will immediately begin logistics preparation for applicant registration at Yokohama National University.
