The makers have finalized the OTT release date. ‘Border 2’ hits Netflix streaming starting March 20, 2026. The update appeared on Netflix India charts, highlighting the online release two months after its theatrical release. The film has an ensemble cast with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty join Deol. Now that the OTT debut is scheduled, it is all set to attract even more viewers who love streaming movies at home.
The backdrop of the 1971 war
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film takes place in the midst of the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, weaving an extensive story around the military confrontation. Building on Border’s original 1997 focus on the Battle of Longewala, this sequel expands the scope to multiple war fronts. It depicts the Indian army, navy and air force countering Pakistan’s Operation Chengiz Khan assault. Sunny Deol plays Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler, commanding an army battalion during fierce battles.

The narrative follows various officers fighting on fronts. Varun plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, the recipient of Param Vir Chakra famous for his bravery in the Battle of Basantar. Diljit plays Air Force pilot Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, who protected the Srinagar Air Base and earned a posthumous Param Vir Chakra. Ahan represents Navy officer MS Rawat.
