Find track
In BMX races, you try to reach the finish line as quickly as possible, not tricks. To find the track, visit britishcycling.org.uk.
If you have an audience, you can intimidate, so many clubs run women-only sessions. BMXercise offers fitness based sessions for women across the country. Just ride a bike.
Kit out
Most tracks offer bikes, helmets and elbow and knee pads. Wear long sleeves and pants and gloves to avoid injury.
Look for balance
Jump while sitting down and your back will be flat. First, practice on the track and learn how to ride with confidence and speed.
Timing is everything
You need to spend time to go fast enough to speed up the jump, but it's not fast enough to lose control when you go out. Do not feel fear-you must come back when you fall. Many clubs offer coach-led classes, where you can get all sorts of tips.
