Senate House leader Shibli Faraz said Monday that Maulana Fazlur Rehman appears to want to be arrested in order to "become a hero", but the government has no intention of stopping Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl ( JUI -F) boss.
"Maulana Fazlur Rehman wants to be arrested in order to become a hero. [The government] he doesn't want to give Maulana so much importance in arresting him, "Pakistan Senator Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) said in conversation with DawnNewsTV.
"Measures will be taken, in accordance with the law, to maintain the situation of law and order," Faraz said.
Senator Faraz also said that the cracks between opposition parties have become apparent from the cancellation of a meeting between Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani and the JUI-F delegation, which was called to initiate negotiations between the government. and Rehman's party.
Faraz also predicted that the next & # 39; March of Azadi & # 39; announced by Rehman was doomed to failure and added that the leader of the JUI-F "should consider what would happen next."
"Maulana Fazlur Rehman's policy will end if the sitting fails," Faraz warned.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had formed a seven-member team on Friday under Defense Minister Pervez Khattak to involve JUI-F and other opposition parties before his planned march. On Saturday, the head of the JUI-F had approved the general secretary of his party and Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri to meet with the president of the Senate, who, as a member of the government negotiating team, contacted him by phone and requested a meeting. .
However, on Sunday, Rehman had prevented his party's delegation from meeting with Sanjrani, saying that the Rehbar opposition collective committee would make a decision on talks with the government.
The Rehbar Committee, which has representation from all major opposition parties, will meet today at the Islamabad residence of its convener, the JUI-F leader, Akram Khan Durrani, to decide whether or not to hold talks with the team of the government constituted by Prime Minister Imran.
March & # 39; Azadi & # 39;
Rehman had announced in June that his party had decided to hold a long anti-government march to Islamabad in October to overthrow the government, which unfortunately had come to power through "false" elections.
Earlier this month, the Maulana first established October 27 as the date of the long march, but then postponed it until October 31, saying they would only hold demonstrations on October 27 to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, which would be watching a black day around the world against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir that day.
The other opposition parties initially opposed the unilateral announcement about Rehman's long march, but then extended their support when the JUI-F trusted them with their plans.
So far, the JUI-F has not disclosed details of its exact plan for the "Azadi March" and its leaders have issued confusing statements in response to questions about their sitting in Islamabad.
