Gen Bajwa Chinese military leadership discuss Kashmir regional security

Chief of the Army General Staff (COAS), Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, and the Chinese military leadership on Tuesday discussed the situation in Kashmir occupied by India and its consequences, Public Relations Between Services (ISPR) said.

According to the military media wing, General Bajwa called the army general commander Han Weiguo, People's Liberation Army (EPL), and General Xu Qiliang, vice president of the Central Military Commission (CMC), at the headquarters of the EPL.

The two sides discussed the regional security environment and defense cooperation between Pakistan and China, the ISPR said.

"The COAS informed the Chinese military leadership about the consequences of the current situation in occupied Kashmir if it is not resolved amicably, so India must respect the resolutions of the United Nations and guarantee the human rights of cashmere," reads in the declaration of ISPR.

"The Chinese military leadership, which supports Pakistan's principled stance on the issue of Kashmir, appreciated Pakistan's healthy approach in the interest of peace," he added.

The military leadership of both countries agreed that the continuing unresolved tensions between Pakistan and India will have serious implications for peace and stability in the region.

"The COAS informed them [the Chinese military leadership] that Pakistan expects peace, but that will not be at the cost of any compromise on the principles or honor and dignity of the nation. "

The two sides also discussed the developing situation in the Gulf and the efforts for peace in Afghanistan. Both parties agreed to improve existing defense cooperation.

The COAS, as well as Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other ministers and senior officials are in China on a two-day visit.
