Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, Hammad Azhar, said Sunday that the tough economic decisions made by the current government have begun to show positive results. Pakistan Radio reported.
The minister of economic affairs, while addressing a press conference in Lahore, said the economy has managed to stabilize and will now move into a growth phase.
Speaking about economic stability, he said that currency reserves are now stable and that the rupee-dollar exchange rate is also stabilizing.
He said the PTI government had inherited a massive debt and had to meet immediate commitments of more than $ 10 billion in loan and interest payments.
The minister considered the "huge circular debt" responsible for the price increase in the electricity sector.
Speaking of the disadvantaged segments of society, he said that the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan is to introduce a social security network for the poorest of the country's poor. He said that the Ehsaas program launched by the Pakistan government Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is an important plan for poverty reduction and is a role model for the world to emulate.
