U.S. oil and gas rig count falls again


The slowdown in energy has forced producers to pull the league back, reducing the number of active oil and gas drilling rigs across the country for seven consecutive weeks.

Texas led the decline again, taking the net four leagues out of service. Oklahoma picked three. New Mexico, meanwhile, added four more leagues this week.

Texas oil and gas activity has declined in recent quarters as the sector continues to strengthen in the midst of slowing across the industry. A survey of energy executives at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas shows that measures of business activity in the energy sector indicate contractions.


Texas has a lion's share of oil and gas activity in 414 leagues, nearly half of the United States this week.
