Shahbaz, Bilawal to plead with Fazl for march delay – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Two main opposition parties, the Muslim League of Pakistan (PML-N) and the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), have decided to involve Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana separately. Fazlur Rehman, asking him to delay his long planned anti-government march.

The decisions were made by both parties during a meeting between PPP President Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, along with their main members at the latter's residence here on Tuesday.

Iqbal said they had agreed that all decisions would be taken from a united and collective platform of the joint opposition.

“The only democratic and constitutional exit of this dead end is the fresh elections. Opposition parties will build a consensus of opinion and action on how to address this objective to ensure the coherence of democracy. These meetings are part of that process, ”he said.

Iqbal said it had been decided that a summit of opposition parties would be convened to finalize a unified and joint future action plan to expel the PTI regime "that has lost credibility to remain in power."

He said the opposition believed that the only solution to the disastrous state of the country's economy and governance was the overthrow of the "incompetent and incapable PTI regime" that had become a "threat to Pakistan and a poison to its people."

Iqbal said the main leaders of PML-N and PPP would hold separate meetings with Maulana Fazl in the next few days, adding that PML-N would inform the JUI-F chief of the decisions taken by the Party's Central Executive Committee at its meeting. September 30th.

The CEC of PML-N decided that the party would approach JUI-F with a request to delay the long march planned for at least one month to allow the party to mobilize its workers.

Iqbal said the catastrophic mismanagement of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had crushed businessmen, investors and, most brutally, the country's workers and poor people to the point where their survival was at stake.

He noted that the "unable and unqualified PTI" had isolated Pakistan in the international committee, so it could not even get 16 votes in the UN Human Rights Council for the Kashmir occupied resolution. He said the opposition was united and committed to freeing people from this regime that had taken their lives and livelihoods.

Sherry Rehman said oil prices were falling in the international market and even the Ogra (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) had recommended a price reduction, but the PTI regime was determined to unload the burden of its failures in the people. She said that the reason behind such brutal PTI anti-people policies was that they had no connection and authentication of the people.

"They have come to power not because of the power of people's vote, so they don't care about the consequences of their actions on them," he said. "This demand to send this government to pack is not a political agenda of the opposition, but a desperate call from the people of Pakistan," he added.

In response to a question about participation in the long march of JUI-F, Ms. Rehman said they would try to convince Maulana Fazl to unite against the government.

She indirectly criticized the JUI-F for making a unilateral call for the long march. "Public meeting or a long march, there should not be a unilateral announcement," he said.
