He later studied at a college in Delhi. While studying, he was interested in reading poetry and acting in plays. He later moved to Hyderabad where he joined a theater group and started acting in plays.

He later moved to Bangalore (also known as Bengaluru) and started working in an advertising agency. While working in Bangalore, he met Nana Patekar, a film director and Indian actor, who asked him to come to Mumbai. He later moved to Mumbai and became a professional actor.

He later appeared in many films, including Parda Hai Parda (1992), Maachis (1996), Lagaan (2001), Love Aaj Kal (2009), and Article 370 (2024).
