UFC Mexico City may be having a scale problem.
7th place in UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) women’s bantamweight Eileen Perez going to face Macy ChiassonSeason 28 Winner ultimate fighterSaturday, February 28, 2026 inside Arena CDMX at UFC Mexico City, Mexico.
But Perez made one thing clear. If you miss chia weight loss, the fight is over.
In an interview with MMA addictPerez didn’t mince words.
“I don’t think Macy can beat me in any way or in any area,” Perez said. “By the way, even from the scales I saw, it looked like she wasn’t going to gain weight. If she didn’t gain weight, I wouldn’t fight, so she’s going to have to work on it… She didn’t gain weight in her last fight, and she didn’t do the same in the fight before that, because she wasn’t going to gain weight, so she ended up at a catchweight with Ketlen Vieira. So she suggested a catchweight.”
“With me it won’t work.” Perez continued. “For the past three months, I’ve been preparing to gain weight first and then fight again. So there are no excuses. I’ve had a lot of time. I see him every day at UFC PI, and he’s huge. I feel like I can’t gain weight. If I don’t gain weight, I don’t fight.”
“We didn’t want this opponent because he was very boring and ugly, but things happen for a reason,” Perez concluded. “As we saw in France, the finish is coming.”
With Perez taking a firm stance, UFC officials may have to watch the weigh-ins closely to see if this fight can actually make it to the Octagon.
