Drew Brees Signs With NBC Sports For $6M Per Year After He Leaves The NFL

Any thoughts that may be going through Drew Brees' head the next time he's on the soccer field, concerns about what he'll do after his NFL career ends, won't be among them as New York Post reported that they signed a deal with NBC Sports that it was worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 6 million per year.

That number actually comes from an offer that came from one of NBC's competitors: ESPN, who reportedly tried to get Brees to sign in his outfit as a commentator on Monday night football. But for some reason, Brees chose to go with NBC for a "competitive" amount of money, sources say, after ESPN rejected a Brees counteroffer for being too high.

A NBC Sports spokesperson also had something to say about the deal, in a brief press release about the deal:

"Like all NFL fans, we look forward to seeing Drew continue his Hall of Fame career this fall, and we are confident that his post-game career will be just as successful."

NBC is reportedly looking for Brees to eventually serve as the replacement for commentator Chris Collinsworth on Sunday Night Football, but before that happens, he will start as an analyst during the Notre Dame football games, as well as a commenter in the study on Football night in America.

When that happens depends on when Brees retires from the NFL. He recently signed a two-year contract with the Saints worth $ 50 million, but there is widespread speculation that his next season will end up being his last.
