Public interest litigation in the Delhi High Court (HC) challenges the change in WhatsApp's privacy policy.

As part of a crucial update to the messaging app's policy, it will now share user data with its parent company, social media giant Facebook. Litigants have argued that WhatsApp's terms of service are "misleading" and difficult for a layman to understand.

Earlier this month, the Delhi HC had sought responses from government agencies, DoT and Trai on it. Now, the bank headed by the President of the Supreme Court of Justice in the Supreme Court has asked WhatsApp and Facebook to submit their responses before September 20 (the next hearing is scheduled for September 21).
