Knowles, 67, suspected something was wrong when she noticed a drop of blood in her undershirt. After several tests, the doctor confirmed that it was stage IA breast cancer. In further tests, he found a mutation in one of the "breast cancer genes", especially BRCA2. He had a mastectomy on his right chest in July and plans to have a mastectomy in 1 second to reduce the risk of recurrence in his left chest in January.


"Well, I'm going to die," Knowles tells Dr. Oz. I did not immediately tell my daughters. I told my wife (Tina Lawson) immediately. "


The BRCA2 mutation means that Knowles' daughter each has a 50{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5} chance of developing breast cancer. But he tells Dr. Oz that they were "tested" when they were tested.
