Kinder Morgan said commercial services were delayed on Friday after several delays at the George Azuela Elba Island liquefied natural gas export plant.
The Houston pipeline company launched the first of 10 liquefaction units that cool natural gas into liquids. Kinder Morgan planned to start commercial services earlier, but after Hurricane Dorian left the Georgia coast, a $ 2 billion project was recently delayed, including evacuation.
“This is a great milestone achieved through an exemplary safety record,” says Norman Holmes, Governor of Kinder Morgan Natural Gas. "It's also an important step for the United States as the country becomes a major energy exporter."

Kinder Morgan said that the second and third units will soon begin with the fourth to sixth units. When completed, Elba Island can export 2.5 million tons per year.
Royal Dutch Shell has been contracted as the sole buyer of all Elba Island LNG.
Kinder Morgan, together with EIG Global Energy Partners, owns a handful of Elba islands and controls the remaining 49{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5}.
