LAHORE: A man allegedly cut his wife's nose because of a domestic problem in the Factory Area police jurisdiction on Monday.
Sajjad Ahmad also shaved his wife's head after subjected to severe torture with plastic tubes, kicks and blows.
Some neighbors ran to Ahmad's house upon hearing the cries of Shazia and her youngest children, who were terrified of seeing their mother seriously injured. Shazia and Ahmad lived in Sitara Colony and the couple had six sons, four daughters and two sons.
The neighbors rescued Shazia and alerted the police, who took her to Lahore General Hospital with severe bleeding.
The neighbors told police that Ahmad would torture his wife quite frequently, adding that he used to hit her with pipes and iron roads on minor domestic matters, and the neighbors had rescued her several times.
A doctor told him Dawn that Shazia had lost her nose, and added that she had been admitted for a complicated facial surgery in which she would be given an artificial nose.
Shazia told police she was visiting the in-laws of one of her daughters in the same town when her husband broke in. He took her back home, closed the door and attacked her with a plastic tube. He claimed that Ahmad told him that he had spent money on his health that he should pay in monthly installments to a merchant. Then he took a knife out of a closet and cut off his nose as well as subjected to torture, he added.
Police said a case had been filed against the suspect for Shazia's complaint and a police team sent to arrest him. Ahmad had fled the scene shortly after committing the crime, they added.
