‘A Cole Front’: Astros reveal latest mural in honor of fifth playoff win


A masterpiece inspired by Gerrit Cole is the latest Astros themed mural in Houston after winning the American League Championship Series Game 3 in New York on Tuesday.

According to Astros' tweet, this mural is the Houston Strong team's fifth playoff victory, and can be seen at Sugar Land's first colonial mall near Lawn. Local artist Frankie Cardona I was in charge of the artwork and created similar astro inspired works in the past.

The mural, titled "Call Front Making" on Twitter, captures a symbolic moment for Houston Astros starter Gerrit Cole to strike out Yankees central defender Aaron cks, finishing the sixth inning of Game 3.


As previously reported by Chron.com, Astros has commissioned a team of local artists to create a piece every time he wins the playoffs. Immediately after winning the playoffs, local artists head to a previously approved and undisclosed place.

Astros can find 4 different playoff victory murals in Heights, Montrose, Northtown and East Downtown. Astros representative told Chron.com that the mural and the place were previously agreed. The only requirement is that the artist has to show the scores for that playoff game, a number of X and #TakeItBack slogans for each game that has been acquired so far.

The mural may pop out of the Houston area, so watch out for the next piece. The fan The hashtag #TakeItBack is used to post mural pictures online.

Astros plays Yankees in the game at 4 pm Thursday night in New York.
