ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) on Friday requested prosecutors from the Federal Investigation Agency to present three officers of the British Command against Terrorism (CTC) on November 6 to testify in the case of Dr. Imran's murder Farooq
ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand also allowed the investigative officer to investigate the suspects already detained in the murder case for further questioning in light of the evidence recently received from the Central Authority of the United Kingdom.
The three CTC officials, also known as SO15, which is a branch of Specialized Operations within the London Metropolitan Police Service, scheduled to appear on November 6, are the custodians of the record related to the murder case.
During the brief process, the prosecution informed the court that it was not necessary to accuse the defendants again, since the evidence received from the United Kingdom government had further strengthened the case against him.
On December 5, 2015, the FIA had registered a case against MQM chief Altaf Hussain and other party leaders for his alleged involvement in the murder of Dr. Imran Farooq.
The ATC accused the defendants under various sections of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC) and the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 1997, related to the murder, incitement and plot of a conspiracy to kill.
Two of the suspects, Khalid Shamim and Syed Mohsin Ali, registered their confessional statements before the magistrate, but then recanted. Another suspect, Moazzam Ali, has not registered his confessional statement in the case so far.
Dr. Farooq, one of the main leaders of the MQM, was murdered in front of his home in London in 2010.
