Work & Mother, a network of pumping facilities for breastfeeding mothers in the workplace, plans to open the facility next year at the Three Allen Center in downtown.
This service works like some office building gyms. The company enrolls in the membership program based on the number of employees. Members provide their employees with lockers, pump equipment, lactation consultants and coolers for transporting lockers.
Houston Center's second, Allen Center location, has 10 private rooms, some of which have workstations so that women can continue to work while pumping. PDR Architects is designing the space.

"We're not ready to solve a private and intimate issue, such as the company pumping breast milk in the office," said Abbey Donnell, CEO of Work & Mother. “It doesn't make sense for every company in a large office tower to do it individually. Work & Mother is more economical to companies in that they reduce legal risks, create a better work environment and preserve their office space. Is the option "for core business"
This facility will help Allen Center tenants be satisfied. Article 7 of the Fair Labor Standards Act The company said employees would require space outside the toilet to pump breast milk during business hours.
Work & Mother has signed a 949 square foot lease with Allen Center Three in 333 Clay St. Allen Center Millions of dollars of innovation. Clint Bawcom and Tyler Merritt represented Allen Center owner Brookfield Properties in the lease negotiations.
