
KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday reserved its ruling in a case filed against a provincial legislator of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement related to the alleged distribution of compact discs (CDs) containing anti-state speeches.
MPA Shiraz Waheed; Naeem Shamshad; Mohammad Shoaib Saeed Danish; Mubeen, Pakistani alias; M. Nabeel; Waqas; Ali Hasan, aka Guddu and Syed Azhar Ali, aka Anna, have been accused of distributing CDs, containing speeches and statements to wage a war against the state, among people in a town in Ahsanabad in 2016.
On Wednesday, the matter was brought before Judge ATC-II, when the suspect arrested Mubeen was presented to the court from prison, while others appeared on bail.
The judge reserved his order after hearing the final arguments of the special prosecutor and the defense attorney for the accused and postponed the hearing until October 5.
In final arguments, prosecutor Nazir Ahmed Bhangwar argued that the AMP along with its about 15 fugitive accomplices had allegedly distributed CDs, containing speeches and statements by MQM chief Altaf Hussain, to wage a war or attempt or support a war against the country, among the people in Ahsanabad.
He also maintained that the prosecution had sufficient evidence, including 32 CDs recovered by the MPA custody police at the time of his arrest, and other material to prove the charges against the accused. He declared to condemn them in accordance with the law.
On the other hand, the defense lawyer argued that the police framed his clients in the present case with intentions of bad faith and had filed false and falsified charges against them in the present case.
The lawyer asked the court to acquit his clients and be innocent and had nothing to do with the crime.
A case was registered under the relevant sections of the law at the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police station.
Prosecution witnesses convened in the Naqeebullah case
An antiterrorist court summoned three prosecution witnesses on Wednesday to testify against former SSP Rao Anwar and other police officers in a case related to the murder of four men, including the aspiring Waziristan model, Naqeebullah Mehsud, at an "on stage" meeting ".
Then, SSP Anwar, DSP Qamar Ahmed Shaikh along with their 16 subordinates were accused of kidnapping the four men by ransom and then killing them by declaring them militants linked to the forbidden Daesh (the Arab acronym of the Islamic State militant group) and Lashkar -i-Jhangvi, emphasizing false recoveries of weapons and explosives and hiding the evidence of the & # 39; false & # 39; in January 2018.
On Wednesday, the matter was settled before Judge ATC-III for the interrogation of the eyewitness Mohammad Qasim.
However, the plaintiff's lawyer, Salahuddin Panhwar, filed an application stating that the witness could not appear because he was ill and asked to forgive his absence for the day.
Two other witnesses, Hazrat Ali and Shaheen Zaman, were present.
Upon allowing the request, the judge ordered Qasim and two other witnesses to appear on the next date and arranged the matter on October 8.
According to the prosecution, Naseemullah Mehsud, aka Naqeebullah, 27, was killed along with three others, Sabir, Nazar Jan and Ishaq, in a false meeting in Shah Latif Town on January 13, 2018.
