On Wednesday, the Court of Responsibilities welcomed Mariaam Nawaz, Vice President of Pakistan's Muslim League-Nawaz, and Executive Director of Sharif Industrial Group, Nephew Yosab Abbas of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He was imprisoned at the Court of Justice of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
During the hearing, the court dismissed the National Accountability Bureau's plea to extend the physical regression of PML-N and Yousaf Abbas.
The court ordered the defendant to be reproduced on October 9 for further proceedings.
On August 8, the NAB team arrested Maryam Nawaz outside of Lahore's Cote Lacpat Jail, skipping Chaudhry Sugar Mills in a meeting with her father and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz could not provide details of foreign investment in sugar mills, and did not satisfy the State about the sources of income for the purchase of shares. NAB also claimed that three foreigners had transferred 11000 shares worth millions of rupees in the name of Maryam Nawaz.
The anti-corruption guard's childcare center was declared a prison for the PML-N leaders, and female police and NAB agents were assigned for her.
On July 19, the Litigation Court dismissed the petition, claiming that NAAM alleged that Maryven Nawaz had acted as a false trust in the Avenfield reference.
Judge Mohammad Bashir declared the appeal of anti-corruption watchdogs to be unsustainable and ruled that no action could be taken in this regard until the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision on Maryam's petition for the Avenfield property verdict.
