KE claims supply from national grid reduced – Pakistan

KARACHI: Karachiites could face power outages more than they suffered every day in the name of load shedding, and those living in exempt areas could also suffer the same under a charge management plan announced by K-Electric (KE) Monday.

The electric company blamed the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) for a reduced supply since September 29.

In a statement, the utility said it faced a 250MW deficit in the supply of the national network that could cause power outages in some areas of the city at a time of rising temperatures.

"The 500kV Hubco-NKI line of the national network has been under forced interruption since September 29 because there is an unforeseen reduction [of] power supply up to 250MW from the national network to the K-Electric system, ”he said.

"K-Electric is making every effort to manage the energy deficit created due to this situation in light of rising temperatures after the rain and aggravated by the insignificant energy supply of [the] 150MW wind corridor of the national grid due to the low wind factor. "

KE claimed to be in close coordination with NTDC officials to minimize the interruption of the power supply and ensure the fastest possible solution to this problem.

"The reduced supply of the NTDC, although temporarily, may require brief periods of cargo management, even in exempt areas," the statement said.

“We have informed our valuable clients of the situation through SMS and we thank them for their patience and understanding during this time. As soon as the NTDC maintenance work is completed, [the] The energy supply situation must be normalized throughout the city. We will keep our clients informed about the developments and regret the inconvenience caused. "

Sources in the NTDC said that a technical failure in the system of one of the Hubco-NKI lines had led to the recent situation, but showed confidence that it would not take time to resolve.

NTDC teams and partners with the private energy producing company that had actually been facing technical failures were working to solve the problem, they said.
