A former British defender has been appointed as the Reds, where the Uruguay striker failed to win the national league.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said he partially blamed ex-team mate Luis Suarez for not being able to win the Premier League title in the 2013/2014 season. Uruguay missed a lot of games early in the game after the game was stopped because they were bitten by Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last season.
Suarez, who finished the season as the PFA Player of the Year, and the Golden Boot winner, who scored 31 goals, was banned from 10 games in April 2013, missing the first six games in the follow-up campaign. During this time, his side recorded four wins, one draw and one loss.
Despite a strong start, Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool team did not finish their command and eventually lost two Premier League titles in Manchester City. The disappointments Merseysiders have experienced over the past few years have led to a spiraled downturn, with Steven Gerrard's notorious fall with Chelsea, who defeated 2-0.
But Suarez's former colleague Carragher said Liverpool would win the Premiership long-term if Uruguay was absent early in the season. While talking about Ivanovic Sky sports"I think Suarez scored late. I had no idea about this, but when I returned to the dressing room, I got a message that Lewis asked Beat Ivanovich. Someone asked him and refused.
"I think Liverpool will cost the league next season.
"Suarez has been banned in five or six games. Liverpool have lost the league. I think it's the difference in goals. Southampton dropped 5 points in Swansea, 1-0.
"If Suarez plays the game, both can win, but let's be conservative. I beat Southampton at home."
