NEW YORK: Pakistan has expressed its "solidarity" with Saudi Arabia, but has also urged Riyadh not to rush into decisions that may threaten the peace and stability of the region, according to Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi .
Prime Minister Imran Khan completed his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday and flew to New York in a private plane provided by Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman, to attend the 74th session of the General Assembly from the ONU.
Qureshi, who accompanied the prime minister on this visit, told reporters in New York that Khan has had detailed discussions with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the crown prince about "the current delicate situation" in the Middle East.
"We assure the Saudis of our solidarity (yekjehti) but we also emphasize the need for caution," said Qureshi. "We urge you not to rush to make decisions that could damage the peace and stability of the region."
The Pakistani team shared their views on this and other issues, while Saudi leaders shared their views, he said, adding that "it is a good exchange."
