Unfortunately, the 31-year-old Brit will be downing milkshakes and warm soup after having his jaw broken by a “Freaky” Australian. In fact, the impact was so severe that one of Hardwick’s molars was knocked out and she had to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
“My chin is definitely messed up,” Hardwick said on Instagram. “It’s okay. I like soup. I like smoothies. I like milkshakes. I like energy drinks. So I can still have all of this. Life is good. I can’t complain about my position. I have an amazing, beautiful girlfriend, I’m healthy, I have a great family, a great support network. I don’t need anyone to cry for me. I’m fine.”
“Obviously I’m upset, but that’s the sport I play,” Hardwick added. “I wanted to win, but that’s just the way it was. Hats off to Marwan. He threw a shot that broke my jaw. He did it on purpose. It wasn’t luck, that’s the way it is.”
