What’s next for Josh Emmett?

and Amanda LemosIt was their first consecutive loss since losing to . Gillian Robertson After the third round of the women’s strawweight match. But now, after a few days on the show, which contestant is suffering the worst hangover?

Participate in his headliner match Kevin VallejosSeveral eyebrows were raised after Emmett questioned why he was given the opportunity to headline another UFC card. In the end, he lost two games in a row and has just 1 win and 4 losses in his last five outings. The longtime Octagon veteran was undaunted and set out to prove he deserved the show with an impressive win.

In reality, Emmett didn’t get much of a chance to strike. Vallejos looked like a man on task from the jump, putting pressure and speed on Emmett and not allowing him to breathe and settle down. A little over three minutes into the match, Vallejos tried to kick things into overdrive and lunged at his opponent after hurting him with a big shot, ultimately forcing the referee to end the fight (see highlights).

While it’s an impressive win for Vallejos, it’s a huge blow to Emmett. He has now lost three straight for the first time in his career and is 1-5 in his last six UFC fights. And if we’re being honest, he didn’t look good at all. He didn’t fire anything of note and once Vallejos started tagging him, his defense was non-existent.

At 41 years old, many are wondering if Emmett is past his prime (it certainly seems that way) and whether continuing to fight at the highest level is in his best interest. He’s always been tough, fan friendly and a tough matchup for most, but since 2023 he’s looked like a shell of his former self, having been stopped in three losses.

The next step for the longtime veteran (if he decides to stay at 145 pounds) will likely be a fight with someone like: Ricky Tersios It’s in order. Why Tursios? Well, like Emmett, he is on a three-game losing streak and has lost four of his last five fights. He is not currently ranked and never has been. However, Emmett’s loss to the 14th seed prevents him from securing his next top 15 opponent. If Emmett can’t get past someone of Turcio’s caliber, it might be time for the promotion to part ways with him.
