Israel may call up 450,000 reservists for potential ground invasion in Lebanon

The report also stated that Israeli forces had recently targeted infrastructure in southern Lebanon, including a bridge over the Litani River, which they claimed was used as a passageway for Hezbollah fighters.

Israel added that it was consulting with the United States over the development of its northern border while also considering expanding the buffer zone in southern Lebanon.

Beginning February 28, Israel and the United States began a war against Iran that left hundreds dead, including Iran’s Supreme Leader at the time, Ali Khamenei, and other security officials.

Iran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel and targeted U.S. interests in several Arab countries, causing casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, a move condemned by affected countries.

Hezbollah began targeting Israeli military bases on March 2 in response to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, despite a ceasefire in place since November 2024 and the killing of Khamenei.

On the same day, Israel expanded its attacks to the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern and eastern Lebanon, and then deployed ground forces to southern Lebanon on March 3.
