While fame and stardom come at a price, many celebrities have often spoken about how they don’t take kindly to paparazzi invading their privacy and going overboard. In a recent interview, when Akshay Kumar was asked about it, the actor revealed that while he doesn’t consider it a professional risk, it would be worrying for an actor if no one clicks on him or recognizes him. He was also asked if the paparazzi are invading his privacy, if he is dating his wife Twinkle Khanna and his children, Aarav and Nitara. Reacting to this, Akshay said in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai on India Today Conclave, “Dekhiye, main airport abhi se utrunga, kabhi meri wife saath mein hoti hai ya mere bacche hote hai. Woh photo lena chahte hai. Ek photographer ko, meri ek photo ya meri wife ke saath ek photo lene ke 3.5 hazaar ya 4 hazaar milte hai usko milte hai toh mereko kya problem honi chahiye uss bechare ka ghar chal jayega, woh khush ho jayega. (Look, if I am at the airport with my wife and a photographer wants to click my photo, he gets Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,000 for clicking my photo or my photo with my wife. If he is making money, then why should I have a problem just posing for him?). When asked further about the invasion of privacy, the actor said, “Agar aap bahar nikalte hai, biwi bacche ke saath toh kis baat ki privacy? (What privacy are you talking about when you are out with your family and not at home?)” Akshay was then asked if he accepted it as a professional risk and quipped, “It’s not a danger. If they don’t take a photo, then it’s a problem. As an actor, if someone doesn’t recognize you, then it’s a problem.” For those who don’t know, Jaya Bachchan had said in an interview with Barkha Dutt a while back, “My relationship with the media is fantastic, I am a product of the media; but my relationship with the paparazzi is zero. Who are these people? Are they qualified to be representative of this country? You call them media! I come from the media; my father was a journalist. I have immense respect, tremendous respect for these people.”He then noted: “They think they have a cell phone and they can take your photo and say whatever they want and the type of comments they make.”
