Best gun controller for PC gaming

Gun controllers are having a bit of a renaissance these days thanks to VR gaming. Players are looking for gun designs to make VR shooting games feel more realistic. However, there are also plenty of gun controllers that can support more traditional PC games, especially if you have a Wii remote.

Here are total controller options suitable for a variety of situations, including popular VR headsets, PC gaming, and PC arcade-style gaming station setups!

Esimen VR Pistol Case for Oculus Quest 2

This clever dual gun was designed specifically for Oculus Quest 2. Requires a Quest 2 controller and attaches to the controller to provide functionality (and the slight weight helps increase realism). The three-piece design uses basic friction locks to position or remove Oculus controllers and keep them in place while you play. Players have full button access, and the finger grooves on the grip help slightly with positioning and comfort. This gun also comes in black!

Of course, being designed specifically for the Oculus Quest 2 means it won’t fit other VR headset brands, so we wouldn’t recommend buying one if you don’t have an Oculus model.

NioTech Wii Motion Plus Gun

The secret to the Wii controller is that you can quickly set it up to act as a cursor on your PC, allowing it to work in a variety of FPS games. The next step is to purchase a gun frame for your controller. This is one of the best products that comes with two durable pistol-style frames that provide access to all the important buttons. The design is ergonomic and has a delightful attention to detail, including a remote slide lock that lets people keep the Wiimote in place while playing.

The downside, of course, is that you have to actually do it. have For the entire setup to work, use a Wii remote, preferably MotionPlus. I’ll also point out that many PCs have trouble automatically recognizing the Wiimote as a mouse replacement, so you may have to go through a simple Bluetooth connection process every time you use the Wiimote. However, if you already have a Wii or don’t mind buying a used controller, this is a very cost-effective option!

Ostend Zapper Gun for Wii

The one-handed design is great for wielding a pistol, but if you have a larger firearm in mind, it’s not exactly the experience you’re looking for. Enter the Zapper, which is basically the same idea but with a two-handed design that’s much better suited to playing with a rifle. You can use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller at the same time if you want (PCs may be a little confused by this setup, but people have developed workarounds if you don’t mind a little more involvement).

Speaking of controllers that more reliably mimic rifle stocks, there are versions designed specifically for swinging rifles in a VR environment. The carbon fiber design is durable and lightweight, and uses magnets to secure and secure your Oculus Rift S/Quest/other compatible controllers. It also comes with a nylon strap that acts as a two-point sling for easier handling. This means you don’t have to put the rifle frame down while you’re busy taking care of other details.

Hyperkin Hyper Blaster for HTC Vive

There’s no need to feel left out if you have an HTC headset. This simple pistol frame is a durable model designed to work with the HRC Vive Tracker while also providing tactile feedback for effective gameplay. This is a good setup for older Vive models, but you might be wondering how it works on the Vive Cosmos. Fortunately, although the Cosmos model uses an internal tracking system, the Hyper Blaster is also compatible with SteamVr tracking and, when set up correctly, can support older forms of play as well.

Captiankn Bluetooth Game Controller Gun

If you’re not into VR or don’t have easy access to something like the Wiimote, there are still options! This gun frame is designed to work with mobile gaming, but it should also fit on a PC as long as it has Bluetooth and a monitor, and can even work as a full controller! It includes a trigger button, an onboard joystick, four action buttons, a slide-back mechanism for the reload function (you’ll have to remap the keys for this setup, but that’s the fun part), and vibration feedback. There’s a side accessory with a joystick that can turn it into more of a gun/controller hybrid, but it’s not necessary if you want to leave it unplugged. We also like the softer grip material and softness, which is conducive to long play sessions when you’re in the zone.

AimTrak Light Gun

If you have ambitious plans, this AimTrack light gun might be just what you like. It comes with an infrared sensor bar and can perfectly emulate a USB mouse or gaming controller depending on your activity. It’s a good choice if you want a traditional arcade-like experience and aren’t afraid to change positions and adjust until you get things right.

Two factors to note here: First, the gun uses USB 2.0. This is a bit outdated now and not all PCs have USB 2.0 ports. USB-A is generally backwards compatible, but for things like USB-C you’ll need to buy an adapter, which will affect performance. Second, if you’re looking for a sensor that works differently but still want to use the gun itself, you can replace the infrared sensor bar that comes with your model with a different infrared sensor bar.
