Pre-orders just opened for the StarCraft Tabletop Miniatures game
Don’t be mistaken. War is coming. And we finally know when it arrives. Originally announced in March 2025, StarCraft Tabletop Miniatures Game adapts Blizzard Entertainment’s sci-fi game franchise to the tabletop for the first time. The game attracted huge crowds for playtests at Spiel Essen in October, establishing it as one of the most anticipated board games of 2026. Archon Studios opened pre-orders for the new StarCraft game on March 10 and confirmed that the game would launch at retail in May.
According to the official website, the game allows players to play as the Terran, Zerg, or Protoss factions with high-quality miniatures in a tabletop wargame setting. The easy comparison is to Warhammer 40,000, but the rules are actually quite different, with simplified mechanics that seem to position it as a great entry point for anyone curious about tabletop wargaming, especially those who are StarCraft fans.
The main product is a two-player starter set featuring the Terran rebel army led by Jim Raynor and the Zerg swarm, with Kerrigan, the Queen of Swords leading the charge in a large-scale battle set in the Koprolu sector. Players control their core models as they hire units that use minerals to build their armies, expend Vespene gas to play tactical cards, engage in turn-based battles, and complete missions to turn the tide of intergalactic war. This one-on-one game takes approximately one to two hours to complete, but is designed for up to six players, with each faction emphasizing a different strategy that parallels how they work in video games.
There’s also a starter set featuring the Protoss faction led by Artanis, along with additional separate miniatures, a Lost Temple map, and several packs that include some or all of the above. Pre-orders for the Founders Edition are now open until April 17, and orders are expected to begin shipping sometime in April or May.
