KARACHI – The Sindh government has announced Jummatul Wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, as a public holiday.
Sindh Provincial Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said Karachi will see one of its major roads named after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
However, he clarified that no gatherings will be allowed on Shahrah-e-Faisal and all organizations must follow the traditional route for processions.
The announcement comes as Yum-e-Ali processions are taking place in major cities and towns in Pakistan.
In Karachi, several streets and lanes in Sadar area were closed with containers to ensure smooth management of the procession.
