Iranian foreign minister rejects US claim of planned attack as ‘sheer, utter lie’

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed American claims that Iran had planned to attack the United States or Iranian troops, calling the claims “pure and utter lies.”

“Any claim that Iran was planning to attack the United States or its personnel, either preventatively or preemptively, is a complete lie,” he wrote in X.

He added that the claim was meant to justify a “morning mistake”. “It was a misfortune engineered by Israel and paid for by ordinary Americans,” he said.

Regional tensions have risen as Israel and the United States launch joint attacks against Iran.

Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets.
