Iran leader vows no surrender, apologises to neighbouring states

Iranian President Massoud Fezeshkian said his country would never surrender to Israel and the United States as the war entered its second week.

In a speech broadcast on state television, Prime Minister Fezeshkian said Iran’s enemies “must accept the desire of the Iranian people to surrender unconditionally.”

Israel and the United States carried out an airstrike against Iran on February 28, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and sparking regional conflict.

Iran has since responded with missile and drone attacks against Israeli and American interests, mainly in Gulf countries.

Fezeshkian is one of three members of the interim leadership in charge of Iran following Khamenei’s killing.
