PM Youth Program Expands Employment Opportunities

Pakistan aims to increase IT exports from $2.5 billion to $25 billion in four years by investing in youth skills and employment opportunities, Prime Minister’s Office Youth Program Chairperson Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said.

Speaking at a career expo organized by Punjab University in collaboration with Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, he said the government plans to nurture young talent through a national youth and youth policy based on individual interests and market demands.

He added that in just six months, around 800,000 young people have registered with the Digital Youth Hub (DYH), providing them with good employment opportunities without the need for referrals.

Rana Mashhood announced that a national youth employment policy will be launched within a month to support job creation, entrepreneurship and women’s participation in the workforce.

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Shah said the expo aims to bring together various industries and connect students with market needs.

Tariq Riaz, representative of the Central Bank of Pakistan, emphasized that entrepreneurship is increasingly replacing traditional employment, adding that efforts are underway to ensure that financing does not hinder innovative business ideas.

Separately, Oriental College of the University of the Punjab, in collaboration with the Hungarian Embassy, ​​organized a symposium honoring scholar and explorer Sir Mark Aurel Stein, highlighting his academic contributions and legacy.

A tree planting event was also held to raise environmental awareness.
