President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States had begun a “large-scale combat operation” in Iran, warning that there could be casualties among American troops.
The attack, which President Trump said was aimed at destroying Iran’s missiles and wiping out its navy, followed repeated warnings from the United States and Israel that Iran would be attacked again if it pursues its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
“I don’t say this lightly. The Iranian regime is seeking murder,” Trump said in a video shared on Truth Social.
“The lives of brave American heroes may be lost and there may be casualties that often occur in war, but we are not doing this now. We are doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.”
President Trump told Iranian Revolutionary Guard members to lay down their weapons and promised to grant them immunity.
Another option, according to Trump, is ‘certain death.’
