Private-Sector collabs, B2B partnerships in focus as Pakistan, Qatar explore fresh Business Ventures

DOHA – Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to deepen cooperation with Pakistan, with particular focus on private sector cooperation and direct B2B partnerships.

A high-level meeting was held between Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed. He was also present with Chairman Pak-Qatar Joint Business Task Force and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his official visit to Doha, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Both sides reviewed the current trade and investment environment and expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in Pakistan-Qatar economic relations. Qatar reiterated its strong interest in expanding business opportunities and strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ private companies.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of increasing trade volume and diversifying Pakistan’s exports to Qatar, especially in the sectors of agriculture, food and value-added goods. He also highlighted the role of the Special Investment Promotion Commission (SIFC) in promoting investment-friendly reforms in Pakistan and promoting foreign investments. It is a framework for attracting international capital and promoting economic growth.

Both sides also reviewed the progress of the decisions taken at the 6th Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Committee meeting and reaffirmed their commitment to implement the measures previously agreed upon. In an important step, they agreed to convene a task force meeting within Ramadan to discuss specific investment proposals and viable business opportunities.

The statement highlighted the joint commitment to deepen trade, investment and industrial cooperation, suggesting a potential surge in economic cooperation between the two countries.

Senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Ataullah Tarar also attended the meeting. During this visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold additional bilateral discussions with the Qatari leadership focusing on strengthening economic relations, energy cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

Observers note that the talks could pave the way for expanded cooperation in areas seen as important for long-term economic growth and strategic partnership: trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development and skilled labor exchange.
