The high command of the armed forces expressed on Monday the resolution to continue supporting the national institutions "when requested".
The resolution was transmitted during a Conference of Corps Commanders chaired by the Chief of the General Army Qamar Javed Bajwa in GHQ today.
Public Relations between Services (ISPR) said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the "national and geostrategic security environment." Among the topics of discussion were internal security, the situation along the eastern border and the Control Line and Jammu and Kashmir occupied by the Indians.
"Pakistan Army as [an] State body will continue to support national institutions when requested according to [the] Constitution, "the press release told the army chief.
General Bajwa added that while the Pakistan Armed Forces with the support of national institutions and the nation are "fully prepared and committed to thwart all threats", including at the eastern border and the LoC, "the continuous cohesion of all national stakeholders in key national issues is essential to defeat the enemy forces. "
Commanders during the meeting expressed their firm determination to defend the country against the full spectrum of threats.
“We have achieved better internal security and stability through national efforts and cohesive sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan, all national institutions and, above all, the nation. "We will not let it reverse to fit any personal agenda at any cost," said the army chief.
The military's statement comes days after opposition leaders, including the head of the JUI-F, Fazlur Rehman, and the president of PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif, alleged during the ongoing march of Azadi that the PTI ruler has undue support from the "institutions."
This led Major General Asif Ghafoor, general director of ISPR, to question on national television what & # 39; institution & # 39; the opposition was referring in his speeches.
In response, Rehman had said that DG ISPR "should not be involved in politics."
"When we don't want a clash with the institutions, why has DG ISPR tried to push the army institution into a clash with the people?" the JUI-F chief had said while talking to the media.
