BAHAWALPUR: The president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, requested the resignation of the railroad minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, after the Tezgam fire near Liaquatpur, which left 74 dead.
I was talking to the media at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) after asking about the health of some of the victims admitted here after the train hell.
He demanded an investigation to find out the causes of the fire, saying that the prime minister should fulfill the promise of an independent investigation into the event. Bilawal said that until the end of the investigation, the minister should resign.
He said that the payment of compensation to aggrieved families should also be accelerated.
Bilawal would stay at the residence of the PPP leader and former president of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf. It is scheduled to visit Uch Sharif, 70 km from here, where he will address a workers' convention in the residence of former MNA Makhdum Ali Gilani.
